Packaging- Travel Food Kit for Dogs.

This project was given to me by my college, National Institute of Creative Communication. The brief given to us said that we'll have to concentrate on experience design. This project involved a lot of hands on work. Right from building the vacuum molder from scratch, to woodcutting and designing the graphics by myself. The aim of this project was to create an experience for the user. During my research, I found that many people who own dogs, find it very difficult to carry their basic necessities without creating clutter. This led to me thinking of various ways to 1) Avoid clutter 2) Easily disposable 3) Hassle-free and 4) Recyclable
The prototype that I have made, is out of Polythene with a 3mm thickness. However, I would want this to be manufactured with the help of pulp moulding, that way it would be recyclable too.
This product is called 'Bone Appetite' and it has three compartments. One is for water, one is for food and the other is for Dentastix. It has three tearable flaps, which makes it easier to open and the contents of one compartment does not get mixed with another.

I decided that in order to make my prototype out of polythene, I needed to mould it into the required shape. That's how I came to the conclusion of building the vacuum molder.
End result.

Done on Autodesk Maya
These 3D renders were done after several sketches and they were completed using the software called Autodesk Maya.

Final prototype
Below are pictures of the prototype that I made. If you look closely, you will see the three different compartments and the tearable flaps. This was all done by hand, carefully measured to perfection. It is about the same size as a doggy food bowl, so taking into consideration the comfort of the dog, I didn't play around with the shape as it will be easily recognisable for the dog as well.
It fits perfectly in your hand, it's not too big nor is it too small. It is easily stackable and has a very strong shelf impact.
